MileSplit to live stream the 2016 Olympic Games (Updated 4/1/13)

RIO DE JANIERO - MileSplit would like to announce that we have inked one of the biggest dream contracts a grassroots media outlet for track and field could ever hope to land.  The IOC, in a rare, unannounced meeting, awarded MileSplit exclusive rights to live stream the competitions in Athletics at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

IOC chief Jacques Rogge was quoted as saying, "We are excited to bring the Athletics portion of the Olympic Games to a broader audience by eschewing a more lucrative contract with NBC to partner with the dedicated grassroots folks over at MileSplit.  We would like to welcome our new partners with the Olympic spirit that is on fire within us all."

NBC will continue to broadcast the Athletics competitions on TV using their antiquated tape-delay format that most casual track and field fans love.

MileSplit CEO Jason Byrne is very enthusiastic over the parntership and had this to say, "MileSplit is very fortunate to be in the position we are in today, and we look forward to bringing the competition to the fans, live as it happens, even if that means you have to get up at 3am to watch it.  We feel confident that die-hard track junkies will value this service".

As we get closer to the Olympic Games MileSplit will document our journey as we begin to set up our camera systems to be able to livestream each event as it happens.  Look for our video documentary in 2015 for a behind-the-scenes look into our preparations.

MileSplit is based in the US and therefore has very few employees with the ability to announce a live broadcast in other languages.  We are currently seeking applications for those willing to lend their announcing voices to our Olympic Games coverage.  All interested applicants please apply here. Be sure to specify any broadcast experience and the languages you speak.

MileSplit and the IOC will be providing further details on the partnership as the Olympic Games draw closer.
