Sunday Highlights

Boys Championship 200m: The prelim was a great indicator of how the final would play out. Ways and Bromell battled it out and in the end Ways picked up his 2nd 200 meter national crown of the year. For Bromell, it was a great way to end his weekend with a silver medal. Both improved on their preliminary time running 20.85 and 20.91 as they were once again the only two under 21 seconds. Bromell will head to USA Juniors and the World Youth Trials while Ways will get ready for the start of his college career at UNC.

Girls Championship 200m: Diamond Spaulding finished fifth with a time of 24.08.

Boys Championship 200m Prelim:  Florida posted the two fastest times of the day heading into the prelims. Ceolamar Ways and Trayvon Bromell went 20.86 and 20.96 to qualify for the finals and are the only two to dip under 21 seconds. Ways won the 200 meters at New Balance Nationals Indoor and is looking to add an outdoor title to his impressive resume. After posting a new personal best, Bromell is looking for his second title in as many days after winning the 100 meter crown.

Girls Championship 200m Prelim: Diamond Spaulding of American Heritage won her heat with a time of 24.34, the fourth fastest of the afternoon. She should be in good position to earn All-American honors and will give defending 200 meter champion Ky Westbrook a run for the individual crown.

Boys Championship 400m Hurdles: Lakewood senior and Baylor bound Timothy Holmes continued his succesful weekend with a second place finish in the 400m hurdles. Holmes finished second in the 110's and was a member of the national championship 4x200m relay team.  His time of 50.61 was a new personal best. Christopher Grinley was 16th.

Girls Championship 400m Hurdles: Kimani Austin-Reese and Johna' Whitaker just missed out on All-American honors finishing 7th and 8th in the college distance 400 meter hurdles. Whitaker also finished 7th in the 100 hurdles. 

Boys Championship 400m: Bartram Trail senior Nick Uruburu finished fourth in his heat with a time of 46.58. It was a new personal best for the University of Florida bound star and enough to earn him the fourth fastest time overall and All-American honors. Miami Northwestern junior Jeffrey Green was 8th with a time of 47.34.



Girls Championship 400m: Florida was well represented in this race and the Sunshine State did not disappoint. Jorian Ordway finished second in a  new personal best time of 54.15. Kendall Ellis went 54.89 to finish fourth and sneak into the top six for All-American honors. Erin Ford was 7th, Deja Parrish 9th, and Shannon Rolle 20th to round out the Florida contingent.



Boys Championship 4x400m Relay: Lakewood - 5th - 3:14.40, Flagler Palm Coast - 6th - 3:16.13.

Boys Championship Long Jump: After winning his second straight national championship outdoors in the triple jump, Jeremiah Green capped off his high school career with a fourth place showing in the long jump. Green fouled his second and third jump before leaping 23-00.50. He is headed to the University of Alabama for his college career.

Boys Emerging Elite Long Jump: Chedlin Sageese placed fifth at the 4A state meet, but Sunday was his day taking home a national championship. The Santaluces junior jumped a six inch personal best of 23-04.50 on his second jump to claim the title. That mark would have placed him 4th in the championship division. Jeffrey Spence of Spruce Creek was 23rd.

Girls Emerging Elite Long Jump: Morgan Campbell - 15th - 17-00.75

Girls Championship Shot Put: Lloydricia Cameron  - 6th - 45-10.75, Lamia Miller - 10th - 43-05.25, Shanell Atkins - 13th - 43-03.75, Jontavia Dykes - 33rd - 36-11.

Girls Championship High Jump: Ponte Vedra sophomore Nicole Green finished third with a leap of 5-06.50.

Girls Championship Long Jump: Darrielle McQueen - 16th - 18-00.50

Girls Championship 800m : Danielle Avery - 36th - 2:23.85

Girls One Mile Championship: Emily Edwards - 25th - 5:11.96

Girls Emerging Elite 800m - Charlotte Stephens - 27th - 2:20.74

Saturday Highlights

Boys Championship 100m: Gibbs senior and Baylor signee continued his impressive win streak by taking the 100 meter final in a time of 10.41 into a -2.4 wind. Dream 100 champion Cameron Burrell of Texas was second in 10.45. Kendal Williams of Jacksonville was third in 10.65. Bromell was the fastest qualifier heading into the finals and along with Williams both won their preliminary heat.

Boys Championship Triple Jump: Hillsborough senior and University of Alabama bound Jeremiah Green unleashed a monster, 52-2 to win his second straight New Balance Nationals Outdoor championship. Lakewood's Shaquil (49-01.50) and Shaquem Griffin (48-11) were fourth and fifth. Gabe McClary of Orlando was 26th.

Boys Championship 110m Hurdles: After strong performances in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, Florida's duo of Holmes and Grinley weren't strong enough to overcome Wellington ZaZa in the finals. ZaZa posted a time of 13.54. Holmes posted a new personal best of 13.80, marking the first time he cracked 14 seconds in his high school career. That mark was good enough for second with Grinley coming in right behind him in a personal best as well of 13.84.

Boys Championship 4x100m Relay Prelims: Lakewood is tearing it up as individuals and as a team. After winning the 4x100, the St. Petersburg school also assembled a 4x100 meter relay team. Jahaven Haye, Shaquil and Shaquem Griffin, and Deandre Boykins posted the fastest qualifying time of the afternoon, 40.94. 

Boys Emerging Elite Triple Jump - Winter Park's Caleb Collins unleashed the winning jump of 47-08.00 with his second to last jump. It was a new personal a best and great way to end the year for the Wildcat's senior. Collins finished second at the state meet in the triple jump and took home the 4A crown in the long jump. He will also compete in that event at nationals.

Boys Championship 4x200m Relay: The Lakewood boys were originally disqualified after officials said the team's last leg was out of the exchange zone After a $100 fee to have the race reviewed the squad was re-instated and awarded the victory with a US#2 time of 1:24.80.

Girls Championship Discus: The success continues for Miami Northwestern standout Lloydricia Cameron.Ewen Magdelyn of Missouri was the class of the field, but Cameron held her own against the nation's best. Her final two throws were over 150 feet with her second to last being her best mark of 153-07, which was good enough for second place. She will also compete in the shot put, where she has a chance for more All-American honors.



Girls Championship Triple Jump: Darrielle McQueen 18th - 38-08.25, Lia King 21st - 38-05.00

Girls 100m Hurdles: Johna Whitaker 7th, 14.23

Boys Championship 110m Hurdles Prelims: Lakewood senior Timothy Holmes advances to the finals after finishing second in his heat with a time of 13.97. Park Vista's Christopher Grinly also made it into the finals with a time of 14.24. Holmes time is the second best behind Wellington ZaZa of Pennsylvania's 13.97

Girls Championship 100m Hurdles Prelims: Florida's Johna Whitaker and Lia King finished first and scond in heat two of the preliminaries, but only Whitaker of Pine Forest had the time to advance. Her mark of 14.13 is the fifth fastest heading into the finals. Kendell Willaims of Georgia is the top seeed with a time of 13.57. Dior Hall of Colorado has the second fastest time coming in at 13.80.

Girls Championship Heptathlon: After leading day one, Admiral Farragut's Brittany McGee continued to reign supreme on day two winning the seven event competition with a total of 4627 points. Gillian Morrison was fourth with a total of 4505 points while Jordan Fields was sixth with 4406 points.

Friday Highlights

  • Girls Heptathlon:  Brittany McGee leads after day one with 2878 points, highlighted by a 14.54 (+4.0) 100 meter hurdles that earned her 903 points. Freshman Gilliam Morrison is currently in fourth with 2769 and Jordan Fields (also a frosh) sits in sixth with 2668.
  • Girls Emerging Elite 100H:  Megan Tse of Spruce Creek finished 14th in 14.95
  • Girls Emerging Elite Mile: Stephanie Kurgatt was 24th in 5:18.29.
  • Girls Freshman 100m: Maijah Mathis, 11th 12.56; Olivia Ogles, 25th 13.01.
  • Girls Freshman 400m: Madeline Beaubien, 9th 58.52.
  • Boys Freshman 400m: Dominic Smith, 2nd 49.69.
