Section 3 Championships, NY

Coverage

Highlights

  • Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) boys move on to states with 24 points to defeat Liverpool, with 37 points.  Bryce Millar led a 1-2-3 finish with a time of 15:37.8 with Andrew Berge at 15:38.1.
  • Fayettevile-Manlius (NY) girls also move on, scoring 19 points for the victory with Annika Avery leading with the win in 18:02.

 

Apache Invitational, CA

Highlights

  • Just how good is US#10 Madera South?  Well, US#3 Arcadia boys only beat them by one point, 32-44 in the large schools varsity race.  Philip Rocha took the individual honors to lead Arcadia with a winning 14:57.7 clocking.  
  • In the girls large schools race Clovis North outlasted Arcadia by a score of 45 to 66.  Roni Yamane (Arcadia) won individually with a time of 17:34.2.  

 

Ventura County Championships, CA

Highlights

  • US#5 Simi Valley won their county champs easily with a score of 23 points.  Sarah Baxter cruised to the individual win by over a minute with a time of 16:37.10.  

 

Illinois Sectionals Article, IL

Highlights

  • 3A  Edwardsville Boys Sectional

    • Patrick Perrier (Sr., O'fallon) wins going away in 15:12 and O'Fallon dominated with 33 points!
  • 3A  Lake Park Boys Sectional

    • Nathan Mroz (Sr., York) wins going away in 14:51 but Winnetka New Trier stuns York and field with 79pts to the Dukes 95!
  • 2A  Wheaton Academy Boys
  • Lansing Illiana Christian ties #4 Yorkville 44-44 but escape on sixth man; Glen Ellyn Glenbard South senior John Wold breezes in 14:58.
  • 3A  Hinsdale Central Boys Sectional
  • Hinsdale Central shows state championship look rolling back Downers Grove North 52-78; DGN's Zack Smith (Sr.) and Ryan Clevenger (Sr.) go 1-2 second weekend in a row.

 

PIAA State Cross Country Championships, PA

Coverage

Highlights

  • Class A Girls - Marianne Abdalah (Vincentian Academy) won the individual race in a big shocker over Kennedy Weisner (Elk County Catholic) by a margin of 18:24 to 19:20.  Holy Cross won the team crown with 64 points.
  • Class AA Girls - Elizabeth Chikotas (Saucon Valley) won the individual title in 18:43 with Regan Rome of Dallas 2nd in 19:10.  Dallas won the team title with 100 points.  
  • Class AAA Girls - Tessa Barrett (Abington Heights) destroyed everybody with a blazing course record of 17:30.  She is the only girl in the history of the course under 18 minutes! Courtney Smith (Unionville) was 2nd in 18:06.  Mady Clahane (Cumberland Valley) was 3rd in 18:12.  Unionville, with their 3rd girl out with illness, won a narrow one over Pennsbury 51 to 57.    
  • Class A Boys - Griffin Molino (South Williamsport) won the individual crown with the 2nd fastest time of the day, a quick 15:54 clocking!  Saegertown boys won a close one over Masterman 60 to 93.  
  • Class AA Boys - Dominic Deluca (Dallas) won the boys individual state title with a time of 16:21.  Tunkhannock Area won the team title with a very close battle over Pottsgrove 101 to 105.  
  • Class AAA Boys - Tony Russell (West Chester Henderson) won his 2nd straight title with a time of 15:49.  Colin Abert (Easton Area) was 2nd in 15:54.  West Chester Henderson won the team title with 60 points over North Allegheny, 97 points, and Cardinal O'Hara, 101 points.  

 

NCHSAA State Cross Country Championships, NC

Highlights

  • 4A Boys - Wyatt Maxey (Providence) won individually in 15:17.55 over Ian Milder (Mount Tabor) with a time of 15:18.32.  William Roberson was 3rd in 15:21.92 to lead Broughton to the team win with 49 points.  
  • 4A Girls - Kayla Montgomery (Mount Tabor) was just off the course record with her winning time of 17:29.12.  Green Hope held off a challenge from T.C. Roberson to win the team title 81 to 91.  
  • 3A Boys - Phillip Hall (Terry Sanford) won individually in 15:07.55 as Tanis Baldwin (East Henderson) was 2nd in 15:08.02.  
  • 3A Girls - Mary Grace Doggett (Cardinal Gibbons) won with a time of 17:57.07 and Cardinal Gibbons ran away with the team crown with just 37 points.

 

OHSAA State Cross Country Championships, OH

Coverage

Highlights

  • Division 1 Boys - Mark Hadley (Boardman) won the individual title with a time of 15:10.63.  St. Xavier dominated the team race with a mere 46 points for the win.
  • Division 1 Girls - Annie Heffernan (St. Ursula) won with a time of 18:13.90.  Mason won the team title with 76 points.  
  • Division 2 Girls - Taylor Vernot (Wauseon) won the title with a time of 18:04.40.

MHSAA State Cross Country Championships (LP), MI

Audrey Belf got it done at states in Division 1. 

Coverage

Highlights

  • Division 1 Girls - Audrey Belf (Seaholm) won individually with a dominant 17:31.1 clocking over Lauren Brasure (Rockford), who finished 2nd in 17:40.8.  The team race was intense as Northville won with 107 points over Saline in 2nd with 139 points.  Hudsonville snagged 3rd with 164 points to narrowly defeat Seaholm in 4th.
  • Division 1 Boys - Highland Milford won a narrow team race over Waterford Mott 165 to 170.  Grant Fisher (Grand Blanc) took the individual race with ease in 15:13.7.
  • Division 4 Girls - Kirsten Olling (Breckenridge) dominated the field with a winning time of 17:44.9, nearly a minute up on 2nd place.

 

Iowa State Cross Country Championships, IA

Coverage

Highlights

  • 4A Girls - Mckenzie Yanek (Pleasant Valley) won the race with a 14:00.20 clocking.  Dowling Catholic took team honors with 90 points.  
  • 1A Girls - Rebekah Topham (Griswold) won big over the 4k course with a clocking of 13:56.30.  
  • 3A Boys - Chandler Austin (Boone) won with a quick 15:05.60, the fastest of the day, as Boone won the team crown with 69 points.  
  • 4A Boys - Josh Evans (Linn-Mar) won with a time of 15:19.40.  

 

MSHSL State Cross Country Championships, MN

Coverage

Highlights

  • AA Boys - Obsa Ali (Richfield) won a close one over Connor Olson (Wayzata) with times of 15:15.2 to 15:17.4.  Wayzata won the team title over Edina 53 to 66.
  • AA Girls - Wayzata dominated in this race with just 37 points for the win.  Bethany Hasz (Alexandria) won over sister Megan 13:53.1 to 14:13.9 
  • A Boys - Keeghan Hurley (Perham) won individually in 15:36.7 as Perham won the team crown with 52 points.

 

TSSAA State Cross Country Championships, TN

Coverage

Highlights

  • Boys AAA - Aaron Templeton (Hardin Valley) won the boys title with a time of 15:10.57 over Alec Thomas (Brentwood) who was 2nd in 15:26.05.  Brentwood won the team crown easily with 49 points and 3 in the top-6 overall.
  • Girls AAA - Bailee Dean (Cane Ridge) won the girls individual title with a time of 18:08.40.  

 

Wisconsin State Cross Country Championships, WI

Coverage

Highlights

  • In the boys Division 1 race Olin Hacker (Madison West) won with a time of 15:46.19 over Ryan Nameth (Verona Area) with a time of 15:51.84.  Stevens Point won the team crown with 83 points.
  • In the girls Division 1 race Elizabeth Flatly (Brookfield Central) won with a time of 14:11.11 over the 4k layout.  Arrowhead took top  team honors with ease, scoring 84 points.

 

CIAC Open Championships, CT

Coverage

Highlights

  • The boys race was a nail biter as Christian Alvarado (Fairfield Prep) and Trevor Hopper (Ridgefield) battled to the line with Christian winning as both were timed in 15:31.  Alex Ostberg (Darien) was 3rd in 15:38.  Ridgefield won easily in the team race with 58 points.  
  • Hannah Debalsi (Staples) won easily in 17:44 but it was over a talented Claire Howlett (Westhill) who was 2nd in 18:11.  

 

Idaho State Cross Country Championships, ID

Coverage

Highlights

  • 5A Girls - Coeur d'Alene girls won big with a score of 63 to 90 over Boise.  Sam Mckinnon (Mountain View) won individually with a time of 18:26.31.  
  • 4A Boys - Elijah Armstrong (Pocatello) won with the fastest time of the day, a 15:41.08 clocking.  Pocatello dominated the team race with just 29 points scored.  
  • 5A Boys - Andrew Rafla (Timberline) won with a quick 15:54.48 clocking as Capital won the team race with 57 points.

 

IHSAA State Cross Country Championships, IN

Coverage

Highlights

  • The Carmel girls rolled over Hamilton Southeastern and Columbus North with 76 points for the win.  Kelcy Welch led the squad with the individual victory in 17:53.90.  Mackenzie Caldwell (Columbus North) was 2nd in 17:56.80.  
  • Carmel also won the boys title in a tight race with Columbus North by a score of 64 to 78.  Jackson Bertoli (Terre Haute South) won the boys title with a time of 15:32.40.  

 

3A/5A/6A State Cross Country Championships, KS

Coverage

Highlights

  • Girls 6A - Emily Venters (Lawrence Free State) won the 4k race with a time of 14:58.32.  Lawrence Free State won the girls team race with 53 points. 
  • Boys 6A - Stuart Mcnutt (Blue Valley West) won the boys race with a time of 15:33.30.  Manhattan dominated the team competition, racking up just 27 points for the win.

 

OSAA State Cross Country Championships, OR

Highlights

  • Boys 5A - Matthew Maton (Summit) won big with a time of 14:59 to lead Summit to the team crown with 38 points.
  • Girls 6A - Ella Donaghu (Grant) won the state title with a time of 18:01.  Sara Tsai (South Eugene) was 2nd in 18:25.  
  • Boys 6A - Kyle Thompson (Central Catholic) won individually in 15:22 as Central Catholic dominated the team race with just 33 points.
  • Girls 5A - Hannah Gindlesberger (Summit) won with the fastest time of the day, a 17:53 clocking.  Summit dominated this one with 33 points for the win.

 

Rhode Island State Cross Country Championships, RI

Coverage

Highlights

  • In the boys race Colin Tierney (Bishop Hendricken) won with a time of 15:49.01.  Jack Salisbury (La Salle) was 2nd with a time of 15:54.24.  Bishop Hendricken won a close team battle over La Salle by a score of 37 to 42.
  • Emma McMillan (Barrington) won the girls race with a time of 17:42.87.  La Salle took down Barrington in a huge battle by a score of 36 to 39.

 

West Virginia State Cross Country Championships, WV

Coverage

Highlights

  • In the AAA boys race Matthew Brafford (George Washington) won big with a time of 15:39.53 and University won the team title over Cabell Midland 64 to 77.
  • In the AAA girls race Amelia Paladino (University) looked dominant in winning with a time of 17:55.84.  Morgantown cruised to the team wiin with just 40 points.  

 

Oklahoma 4A-6A State Cross Country Championships, OK

Coverage

Highlights

  • In the boys 6A race Ben Barrett (Norman North) won with a time of 15:30.76.  Jenks dominated to win the team title with 23 points.
  • In the girls 6A race Cheyenne Walden (Sand Springs) won over 3200m with a time of 11:19.50.  Norman North won the team crown with 51 points. 

 

New Hampshire State Cross Country Championships, NH

Coverage

Highlights

  • Jeremy Brassard (Coe Brown Academy) won a tight duel with Tim Fafard (Mascenic Regional) by 0.40 seconds with times of 15:50.00 to 15:50.40.  Oyster River won the team battle over Pinkerton Academy 104 to 110.  
  • Maegan Doody (Oyster River) won the girls race in 18:12.00 with Emma Newton (Hollis Brookline) 2nd in 18:18.30.  Coe Brown Academy dominated the team race, scoring just 33 points to secure the win.
