Saucony Elite 50 Individual Boys | Week 8

*Editor's Note: The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 individual in the country (25 boys and 25 girls)

Well, another great weekend of State Championship action is in the books and what a weekend it was.

Perhaps the best among all the great state championship action was the impressive performance from Tennessee where #5 Aaron Templeton (TN) crushed the course record by 18 seconds and was 40 seconds faster than his performance last year.  Quite remarkable considering that Aaron was a Foot Locker finalist and finished 7th in the finals last year.  #10 Mark Hadley won the D1 crown in Ohio with a quick 15:10 clocking.  #12 Tony Russell (PA) crushed the competition in the first 1.5 miles in an attempt to burn people out to the benefit of his team before cruising home unchallenged to the individual title in the AAA class.  In Oregon #9 Matthew Maton (OR) rolled to the 5A state title with a quick 14:59 clocking.  And #23 Josef Holt-Andrews rolled to an easy state win in Maine to continue a stellar senior campaign.  In Idaho #20 Elijah Armstrong also won a state crown in the 4A division.

In state qualifying action #1 Joe Hardy (WA) cruised to the victory and a berth in the state championhips race, leading his team (Seattle Prep) to a state berth as well.  #4 Patrick Perrier (IL) cruised in well ahead of second place to secure an individual and team berth in the Illinois State Champs.  In Washington #11 John Dressel, Tanner Anderson and #14 Kai Wilmot went 1-2-3 in their district meet to move on to states.  #18 Bryce Millar led a great Fay-Man squad to a sectional title and looks to be a big favorite at the NY state champs.  #21 Mickey Burke (NY) also cruised to the win in his sectional to move on to the NY state champs.  And #25 Louis Colson (VA) ran the fourth fastest time at the Burke Lake course with a 14:42 solo clocking.

And the lone addition to the rankings this week and #25 is Jacob Pickle from Texas, who blasted a 15:17 clocking at his district championship meet, for #2 all-time ahead of the great Craig Lutz.

Note: Nicholas Elswick (OH) was injured prior to the Ohio state meet and after finishing his race there ended his season.  Therefore he is being taken out of the rankings, but not for lack of running very well this year.  Best wishes Nick, see you on the track!

Stay tuned each week as we bring you the Saucony Elite 50 Individual Boys every Tuesday morning!
