Another Piece to Brooks PR Puzzle: Anna Maxwell (CA)

Another piece to the Brooks PR puzzle is San Lorenzo Valley distance runner Anna Maxwell. Maxwell, a University of Washington signee will have the chance to showcase her skills on her future track. On the track, she was the 2013 CIF State Track & Field Champion at 1600 meters and the 2014 state runner-up at 800 meters. Maxwell was fourth in the 3200 meters at Arcadia with one of the top times nationally, 10:04.81. She was the 2013  CIF California State Cross Country Champion and finished fifth at Foot Locker Nationals. This will mark her second time at the event. Last year she was third in the one mile run. She will compete in the mile once again this year and brings with her a PR of 4:43.27 to the Brooks PR Invitational on Saturday, June 21st in Seattle.

When did you first learn that you were invited to the Brooks PR Invite and how did your reaction?

Maxwell: I found out about Brooks sometime during the winter and I was super excited and immediately put the puzzle together with the help of the girls team in the middle of the track.

What does it mean to you to be invited to the Brooks PR Invitational?

Maxwell: I was super excited this year especially because the competition will be so fierce. I have had so much fun in the past and because I will get to run on " U dub's" track which is where I will be very soon!

What do you hope to achieve at the meet?

Maxwell: I hope to have a lot of fun and hopefully use the good competition to PR.

What music do you listen to before races?

Maxwell: I made a running playlist freshmen year with pump up musical which I still use, but it's too embarrassing to share.

If you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

Maxwell: A boat, gas, and a manual of how to drive a boat.

What would you consider as your best or most favorite race of all-time and why?

Maxwell: Running for the USA junior team in Scotland because it was in Scotland and because the junior team rocked, but it might be a tie with World Youth.

What are some things un-running related people might not know about you?

Maxwell: I rode and had a horse till the end of freshmen year. Her name was Lolly Pop! I also like rafting, white water kayaking, sleeping, eating, knitting, blueberries, and eating way to much fruit at our local farmers market.

How and why did you get involved in the sport?

Maxwell: I started playing competitive soccer when I was 10 and I started track in middle 7th grade to stay in shape for it ( and haven't stopped since).

How has your training been leading up to the meet?

Maxwell: I took some time off last week to go to Disneyland and graduate high schoo so my mileage is very low and pretty inconsistent, but oh well.:

What are you most looking forward about your trip, race and weekend at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle?

Maxwell: Getting to bond with all the girls, spend time in Seattle where I will be soon, and hopefully getting a PR.
