Defending Foot Locker champ Grant Fisher commits to Stanford

Grant Fisher, the defending Foot Locker Nationals cross country champion and #1 ranked runner in the country according to the Saucony Flo50 Rankings, has finally made his college decision. Being the most sought after high school boys senior distance recruit after winning the adidas Dream Mile (4:02.02 PR) and Brooks PR Invitational two mile (8:51.28 PR) last spring over the nation's best, Fisher has declared that he will be attending the Stanford University. He made it publicly known in a tweet on Thursday night as the new early college signing period got underway on Wednesday.

With the college decision out of the way, Fisher now can turn all his attention to repeating as Foot Locker Nationals champ, which he would join a short list of past double national champions if he accomplished the feat. Fisher's next race will be the Foot Locker Midwest Regional on Saturday, November 29th in Kenosha, Wisconsin (MileSplit will be on-site with coverage).

One of his top challengers at nationals ironically will be his future Cardinals teammate in Alex Ostberg from Darien High School in Connecticut, who owns the fastest 5K PR among all high school runners in 14:16. Fisher and Ostberg will certainly make a huge impact together on a talent-rich Stanford program together over the next four plus years, but will put off working together on hold on December 13th in San Diego as part of a highly anticipated Foot Locker Finals.
