Running Around the Nation - Weekend Wrap Up

WI - On September 6, at the Arrowhead Invite, Joe Stilin (Sr., Milwaukee King, WI) beat Andrew Perkins (Sr., Watertown, WI) soundly, winning by twenty-five seconds, in 15:56 over the 5k course.  The Stilin v. Perkins matchup is merely the first of many great duals Wisconsin has this year.  Both athletes will be Foot Locker regional contenders.

CA - Trabuco Hills (CA) boys showed their dominance at the Seaside Invitational Friday (9/7), winning by a large margin.  Individual star, Scotty Blair (Sr.), led the team with an individual win in 14:47, while Foot Locker tontender Jeremy Acosta (Sr., Highlands, CA) took second in 15:04.  Saugus (CA) won big on the girls side, with Foot Locker hopeful Katie Dunn (Sr) winning in a landslide in 16:57.

NE - Emiliy Sisson (So., Millard North) won the Millard South Invitational in 14:40 for 4k.  While the time is a great one, the bigger significance was Sisson taking on her former team, Omaha Marian.  Sisson beat ex-teammate Kelli Budd (Jr., Marian) by 19 seconds.  However, Budd and Omaha Marian won the team title, making the weekend sweet for both parties.

CA - German Fernandez (Sr., Riverbank, CA) won the Sierra H.S. Invitational Saturday, beating his course record by over a minute and running 14:47 for 5k!  Fernandez, who is consistently running healthy for the first time in a long time, took the race out around 4:30 for his first mile and then came through around 9:20 for the second mile.  Fernandez looks like the top runner in the West right now, but the season is a long one obviously.

TX - Colby Lowe (Sr., Southlake Carroll) continues to show why he is the best in the South.  Lowe won three meets between August 25 and September 8, with a solid 38 second average margin of victory.  In each meet he beat teammate FL South #9 C.J. Brown (Jr.), who has a shot to qualify for Foot Locker Nationals as well.

WA - US #2 North Central (WA) beat US #24 Central Valley (WA) boys at the Greater Spokane League Meet, 34-39.  North Central came out fast and finished strong, as they took spots 1, 3, 7, 8, and 15 for their top five.  This is merely one time these teams will compete against one another this season.
