Four of the top boys programs in the country took to the Ferris H.S. cross country course Wednesday night in Spokane, Washington.  U.S. #2 North Central, U.S. #24 Central Valley, Mead and Ferris competed in the Greater Spokane League four-way dual meet.  All four teams competed for local bragging rights, but at the end of the night only one winner would be named.  North Central took home the top prize, placing five in the top ten spots.

First mile started out as a very large pack, with Kelly Lynch (Sr., Mead) taking an immediate lead, with everyone bunched in behind.  By the mile marker Lynch had about a ten meter lead on the chase pack of Kimple (Jr., North Central), Dean (Jr., North Central), Aguilar (Sr., Central Valley) and Taylor (Sr., Central Valley).  A second pack led by Thorne (So., Ferris) was about ten meters back.  By the second mile Kimple and Dean had split off from Aguilar and Taylor, both groups running together.  The N.C. (North Central) duo was making a strong move to reel in the 60 meter gap Lynch had built, with the C.V. (Central Valley) duo lagging just behind.  Howard (Jr., North Central) broke out of the second pack to make a run at the C.V. duo, followed by Baker of Mead.  At around 300 meters to go, Kimple made a big move to try and cover the remaining 30 meters or so on Lynch, as Taylor made a similar move on Dean.  After that came Howard and Baker, then a pack kicking it out led by Thorne, with Hicks (Sr., North Central) and Avila (So., North Central) beating Hawkins (Sr., Ferris) and Cesal (Sr., Central Valley).
