Harrier XC: Home of the National Rankings

Harrier XC

"Home of the National Rankings"

As Milesplit's recent XC Legacy seeks to provide national rankings for the years 1980-1988 we remember and we look back, together, at the start of it all. The true excitement of national team cross country stardom began with the publication of the first Harrier magazine in 1974. The Harrier is the premier national high school cross country report. In 1989, Marc Bloom's Harrier magazine began publishing the Harrier Super 25 National XC Rankings. It was this publication and the excitement it created that would play a part in inspiring the formation of Nike Team Nationals. The Super 25 Rankings allowed teams around the country a national forum and an opportunity to win the coveted Harrier Super 25 National XC Championship released through the Harrier report.

As the 2009 XC season approaches teams throughout the country are poised to make a run at individual and team championships. Not to mention the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Nike Cross Nationals. For all of those avid XC fans who appreciate this wonderful sport we call cross country the time is now to subscribe to the Harrier magazine.

Prep competitors have Harrier founder Marc Bloom to thank for the implementation of Nike Cross Nationals. Without the indepth coverage for more than 30 years of this sport by Bloom, NXN would not be the tremendous event it is today. Perhaps it can be said, without Harrier Nike Cross Nationals would not exist at all.

Every cross country coach, athlete, spectator, and parent should register today for the Harrier magazine. The quest for excellence in 2009 Cross Country begins with the Harrier Magazine.
