What happened to Wolff and Chacko out of Colorado?? One week and they get bounced?? Makes no sense.....need to research again!
  • LisaRain / 1 Years Ago
"These rankings are based on performance to date, particularly in head-to-head competitions" With this stated in the first line of the article can you explain why two Colorado runners who placed 12th and 13th at NCX Nationals are not ranked? These two athletes finished ahead of many who they beat head-to-head the past few weeks and have equally fast if not faster season performances. If you look at the statistics and race performances of these particular athletes you might understand the frustration. Espeically given one is a Senior and season ending rankings make a huge differnce in how college recruiters view them. Your rankings matter and if they are based heavily on head to head competition then let's be consistent so that all athletes even those from Colorado get a fair and sea-level ranking.

    oops sorry for posting twice

These rankings have nothing to do with college recruiting unless the coach is either lazy or not very good! Heather Bates does not need these rankings to help her college recruiting effort! She will be just fine...
  • ProFromDover / 1 Years Ago
12/3 Ratings aren't bad. Obviously not an in-order listing for college recruiters but as a performance-based entity they are ok (yes it's understood how good Finn,Erba,Bos are).
  • LisaRain / 1 Years Ago
Yes, Heather will continue to do well however it still does not answer the question of why athletes she beat the past two weeks are ranked higher. Why have rankings at all if head to head is not considered. If head to head does not matter why put this comment in the headline of the rankings criteria? It may not matter to those recruiting as you say but it certainly matters to the young ladies who ran so well.
  • COXCfan / 1 Years Ago
I do agree that by the way that Heather should be in the top 25 and Raisnberger as well. Wolff and Chacko also beat many girls on this list head to head both top 25 and honorable mention!! And yes the runners do care.....research??
  • jmlink / 1 Years Ago
Deciding on when to use head-to-head results on the boys rankings will be really challenging after NXN. At the same time, cross country is not track and the ability to adjust to difficult conditions, especially in championship races, should play a big role in the rankings.
  • lyleknudson / 1 Years Ago
The omission of Wolff & Chacko this week is my mistake. It has been corrected.
  • lyleknudson / 1 Years Ago
"Head-to-Head Competitions" yes, but not only in the latest race. The latest rankings were weighted somewhat toward performances at NXN Nationals. Head-to-head and quality & consistency of performances across NXN Regionals, Footlocker Regionals, State meets, and other meets throughout the fall were also considered. Do you want me to throw out all non-Footlocker National performances in the next rankings?
  • lyleknudson / 1 Years Ago
It's interesting. When I have people contact me and tell me that certain individuals should be "ranked", I ask them to suggest who they should replace. Haven't had a response to that yet. Please keep commenting; it makes things interesting for all. But do your research too, if you're serious about putting down some athletes to build up others. Yes; athletes, coaches, parents, and fans care, but so do other athletes, coaches, parents, and fans.

    Point taken....
