Horrible weather impeds other runners except Alan Webb as he storms through the rain for a 14:59 clocking at Great American.

The 2000 Woodberry Forest Invitational marked the beginning of South Lakes HS senior Alan Webb's final high school cross country season. Webb opened it shattering the course record with his time of 15:18.

At the 2000 Virginia Tech Invitational, a star was born. That star (or runner) was Rockbridge County HS sophomore John Crews. Crews destroyed the talented field as well the course record (15:44 Nick Magnum) as he powered across the line in a time of 15:27

At the 2000 John Handley Invitational, Bobby Lockhart had another lonely race as the John Handley (AA) junior won the boys' race in a time of 15:25 seconds, a minute ahead of the rest of the competition.

Last year, the Christopher Newport Cross Country Invitational was forced to be cancelled due to torrential rains and flooding the weekend of the meet. The meet bounced back from the setback this year though with outstanding performances.

The flrunners.com Invitational finally has secured its new venue location after George Jenkins backed out.

Only a few exceptional runners have the kind of talent where they can start off their cross country seasons setting a course record. One of those kind of runners is John Handley junior Bobby Lockhart.

Seniors Allen Carr of York and Jeannie Addison of Thomas Jefferson/Governor's School started off their last cross country season on the right foot and both ran blazing times on the Hardy National 3 mile course.

The James Wood boys and North Stafford girls blew away the competiton at the Chancellor Invitational held on the challenging 5K course at Loriella Park in Fredricksburg.
