Marquise Goodwin jumps 26-10 for national high school record

EUGENE, Ore. – Marquise Goodwin of Rowlett, Texas, broke the 20-year-old national high school record in the long jump on Saturday, jumping 26-10 in the Seniors competition of the USATF Championships at Hayward Field.

Beach sets another record, wins Junior dec with 7,599

EUGENE, Ore. – Curtis Beach set his third national decathlon record in three months, scoring 7,599 points to win the USATF Juniors championship here at the University of Oregon on Friday. Beach, a recent graduate of Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico, had second-day performances of 14.64w in the 39” high hurdles, 124-2 with the Junior (1.75k) discus, 15-0 ¾ in the pole vault, a subpar 127-10 in the javelin, and a record-setting 4:07.85 in the 1,500 meters.

Is one noted Floridan’s national record destined to be taken down by another Floridian? “Youbetcha,” say flocks of Sunshine State track fans who’ve been fortunate enough to see Ebony Eutsey in full flight. The sensational junior at Miami’s Southridge High School has been a state champion since her freshman year and heads to the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. as both America’s fastest girls scholastic 400-meter runner (at 52.42) and a soon-to-be threat to Sanya Richards’s USA all-time girls best (50.69) notched for St. Thomas Aquinas of Fort Lauderdale in 2002.

Deep Mile and Two Mile Fields Highlight Competition This Weekend at Midwest Distance Gala

Version 5.0 of the Midwest Distance Gala is taking place this weekend on the campus of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. This year’s version looks to be bigger and better than last year’s version and shows that this meet, which started with just 37 finishers the first year, is growing quickly and the quality of the fields assembled is unbelieveable. This year there are storylines by the dozen and the main one looks to be a match-up that has been building since last cross-country season.
RI State Champs: Springer sets records, wins three individual, one relay leading team to 1st title

Surpassing the three individual state titles (3,000-, 1,500- and 1,000-meter runs) he earned during the indoor season would be a feat in itself. Westerly senior Andrew Springer did just that at Saturday’s Rhode Island Outdoor Track and Field Championships and also received an added bonus.

Breaking News Seton Hall Prep senior Clayton Parros ran a smokin' 45.71 for 400m today in the Great Southwest T & F Classic at the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque)establishinfg a new State record. Finishing second to Tavaris Tate (Stakeville MS.), the Norh Carolina bound Parros broke the previous record of 46.02 set by Dennis Mitchell of Edgewood in 1984.
