INDIANAPOLIS - Shalane Flanagan has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the women’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon Saturday in a new Olympic Trials record time in Houston.

Rachel Evjen Booth Competes at U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Jan 17, 2012

Northwestern cross country alum Rachel Evjen Booth competed Saturday in the 2012 United States Olympic Marathon Team Trials in Houston, placing 31st at the event out of more than 150 entrants. Evjen Booth completed the 26.2-mile course in a time of 2:37:59, only 12 minutes off the winning time.

Two Former Lakes Run at US Olympic Marathon Trials Jan 16, 2012

Two former Grand Valley State Lakers were competing at the recent U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon that was held on Saturday (Jan. 14). Jeannette Seckinger (Faber) finished in 21st place while Adrian Chouinard finished 67th.

Former Panther Has Top-10 Finish In Olympic Qualifier Jan 15, 2012

Dot (Bunnell) McMahan, formerly of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country and track and field teams, repeated as a top-10 finisher in the U.S. Marathon Olympic Qualifier in Houston Saturday.The former Panther finished the Houston Marathon with a time of 2:32.16, nearly three minutes faster than her time in the Boston Marathon Olympic Qualifier in 2008. Saturday's time was good enough for ninth overall out of 152 runners.

Criscione Finished 59th at Marathon OT Jason Byrne Jan 14, 2012

Jeremy Criscione made his marathon debut today at the Olympic Trials of all places! After qualifying with a fantastic 1:04 at the New York City Half Marathon, he got to experience the full today on a big stage. Criscione held his own, along with his Hanson-Brooks Distance Project teammates and was as high as 36th at one point. It finally caught up with him at five miles to go and he felt it big time, but held his own and finishd near the middle of the pack in this elite field with 59th place and 2:20.

When Brian Olinger steps to the starting line of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon on January 14, he will be in for the run of his life. Of course the Olympic Trials are a big event for all who are racing, but for Olinger, it will also mark the first time he has ever raced more than seven miles on the roads. Olinger will make his debut at the marathon distance in a unique way. He gained entry to the trials through his 10,000m mark of 28:07.5 from the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in May. In fact, to date Olinger is the only man entered in the trials using only a 10,000m time.(via usatf.org)
