SCUSATF annual meeting Saturday in Columbia

Athlete Spotlight: Jonathan Russell

 

Broad Run rising senior Jonathan Russell recently completed a remarkable stretch of races to wrap up his 2011 outdoor season in competing for Team USA at the World Youth Championships in France earlier in July. Under the direction of his club coach Fenton Hugg, Russell (pictured right by Victah Sailer of photorun.net) took what had already been a breakthrough spring season with two state titles at the AA State Outdoor Championships including breaking a 20 year old meet record in the 300 meter hurdles to another level in the summer months. Reynolds Wins 400, Hall Second in 200 at World Youth Trials

Today in South Carolina, Miami Jackson star Robin Reynolds captured the Girls 400 Meter victory with a 52.84 after also winning the Intermediate 400 championship last year. Arman Hall of St. Thomas Aquinas qualified for Worlds in the 200, finishing second in 21.13. This event is a qualifier for the World Youth Championships in France.

Kinnaird, Thomson, Halsel, and Troutman to Represent KY at the World Youth Trials Tuesday/Wednesday

 

A four-man team of track and field Kentucky all-stars will compete at the World Youth Trials June 28-19 in Myrtle Beach, SC. All four athletes were 2011 KHSAA Track and Field Champions in their events and will attempt to become members of the 40-person Team US World Youth Championships squad which competes July 6-10 in Lille, France.
