AGE REQUIREMENTS

The Pan American Junior Championships are an age group event, which follows the IAAF regulations on the age of competitors. The regulations are as follows:

An athlete aged 18 or 19 years on December 31, 2011 (born in 1992 or 1993) may compete in any event.

An athlete aged 16 or 17 years on December 31, 2011 (born in 1994 or 1995) may compete in any event. However, the maximum number of events in which an athlete in this age category can compete is two individual events plus one relay. If the two individual events are Track Events, only one of these may be longer than 200m.

No athlete younger than 16 years of age on December 31, 2011 (born in 1996 or later) may be entered.

No athlete older than 19 years of age (who will turn 20 at anytime in 2011) may be entered.
