Saucony Elite 50 Individual Boys | Week 2

*Editor's Note: The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 individual in the country (25 boys and 25 girls)

What a weekend for cross country that was! Blake Haney and Estevan De La Rosa went head to head, Cerake Geberkidane killed the 5k and Louis Colson (pictured) might be better than Sean McGorty.

Haney and De La Rosa went head to head at the Woodbridge XC Classic with Haney winning 13:55 to 13:56 as both went under the all-time meet record!  Meanwhile, a little further east at the Bob Firman meet in Idaho another epic battle was waged.  Kai Wilmot, WA, snagged the victory over a number of ranked athletes with Wolfgang Beck, WA, finishing as the runner-up.  Elijah Armstrong, ID, John Dressel, WA, and Conner Mantz, UT, were 3rd-5th as all 5 were within 10 seconds of each other.

Cerake Geberkidane, CO, moves up the rankings after a rather shocking performance in Colorado on Friday evening as he scorched the earth to a 14:46.50 clocking which lopped 63 seconds off of his winning time from last year!  Cerake has been running well all year, but this result should cause the nation to take notice that he is in some seriously good shape!

There were a few editions to the rankings as well with Louis Colson, VA leading the way after his 15:16 win at the Oatland Invite this weekend.  But more impressively, this result backs up the 14:43 3-mile he put up last weekend on a course on which 2012 Foot Locker runner-up Sean McGorty ran 14:50.  That's some good company!  Also new are Matthew Maton, OR, who has posted a 14:57 5k and Phillip Hall and Wyatt Maxey from North Carolina, who put up some great early-season times on the Wakemed course this weekend.

Stay tuned each week as we bring you the Saucony Elite 50 Individual Boys every Tuesday morning!
